Whether your relationship is new and exciting or long-term and comfortable, we all know it can be difficult to make time for restaurant dates. Sharing a meal together is one of the best ways to check in with your partner and grow closer over good food and conversation, but planning the perfect dinner date can be exhausting. This is especially true if you live in a city where things can get booked up fast.

Anything you can do to make planning dates with your partner easier will help you relax and just enjoy your meal with the person you love. When you’re in the mood to take your partner out to eat, find the perfect restaurant in your area using the Official app and use these tips to help you make reservations at even the busiest and most popular restaurants.

Reservation Tips

1. Be ahead of the game

Every restaurant is different, but it’s a good rule of thumb to make a reservation around a week in advance. However, this can change based on the specific restaurant you’re planning on eating at, as well as the area you live in. Restaurants in the city will book up faster, especially if the restaurant is new, popular, or expensive.

On the Official app, there are descriptions of each restaurant featured, and a sense of how expensive they will be. If the date you are planning is really important, do your research on the restaurant ahead of time to decide when to make your reservation.

2. Double-check and make your requests

On the day before your date, call the restaurant to confirm the reservation you made. Not only will this give you some peace of mind, but it will allow you to make or confirm any last-minute requests for the night.

If you need anything out on the table during the date (such as flowers, gift, or engagement ring) make sure the staff knows the plan for the meal.

3. Use an app

There are plenty of apps out there to help you make reservations. This can be especially helpful if you have anxiety triggered by talking on the phone with people. Using an app like Official can make planning your perfect dinner date much easier, and for each reservation you make through the app you will earn rewards to redeem on future dates!

4. Be polite

Throughout the reservation process, keep in mind that the restaurant staff is doing the best they can, especially during busy seasons or times. If you treat food service workers well, you will have a better experience overall with your date and your meal.

Try to arrive five to ten minutes early, in case there are any complications. If you need to cancel, do it as soon as possible so the restaurant can make room for other reservations or have more open space for business.

5. Enjoy your date

Above all else, remember to enjoy this time with your partner. Whether you’re going somewhere fancy or casual, the most important thing about restaurant dates is spending that quality time with your significant other, and getting to know them better. Have fun!
